U.S. E-cigarette Market Trends
The growing health concerns among smokers are driving the market
In the United States, there is an increasing number of tobacco-related cancer cases, most of which are related to smoking, which has led the public to look for alternatives to or quit smoking. Smoking-related health problems have increased dramatically over the past few years as many governments and individual organizations prioritize this issue. In addition, smoking is associated with a higher risk of dementia and cognitive impairment in older adults. It may also be associated with an increased risk of hearing changes, cataracts, decreased ability, and macular degeneration. The use of e-cigarettes is also increasing because these devices do not use tobacco. Most Americans are considering e-cigarettes as a way to quit smoking, while some smokers are turning to e-cigarettes as an alternative to smoking. Also, since these products are available in both nicotine and non-nicotine forms, individuals can consider it according to their preferences. For instance, in October 2022, according to a study by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2.55 million middle school students in the United States reported using an e-cigarette during the one-month study period. This includes 3.3 percent of middle school students and 14.1 percent of high school students. More than half of these young people (more than 85%) use single-use flavored e-cigarettes.
